Connected Solar Panels

Connecting solar panels to charge controller a charge controller is basically an appliance that regulates or stabilizes the voltage produced by the solar panel the direction of current and prevents overcharging.

In the first step you are going to wire the battery to a charge controller. If your charge controller has no fuse you can t use it anymore. It stops working when the sun goes down. There are 3 ways to connect solar panels.

The positive wires are connected to a positive connector within a combiner box and the negative wires are connected to the negative connector. This is necessary because the current produced by the sun my vary depending on the intensity of the sunshine. Parallel series and a combination of parallel and series. In addition the two parallel connected solar panels will charge the batteries quickly and power up extra load.

This setup is needed in case of a 24v inverter system. This means that the home will get electricity both from its solar panels and the electric grid. It is important to wire this component first before you wire the solar panels. The connection of multiple solar panels in parallel arises from the need to reach certain current values at the output without changing the voltage.

For this example i am showing you connecting panels that are for a 12 volt system. For this reason we have to wire the pv panels and 12v batteries in series to obtain the desired voltage level. This is important because solar energy is intermittent. Connect the solar panels either directly to a power inverter and then connect it to the home grid or connect the inverter to the battery and then to the home power grid.

This power inverter converts the solar energy into energy that is consumable at home. When a homeowner decides to add solar panels to their home in most cases they will choose to be grid connected. Then they are connected to the charge controller or to the inverter of the solar system. The first way i am going to talk about is parallel because this is probably the most common way that panels will be connected.

When solar panels are wired in parallel the positive terminal from one panel is connected to the positive terminal of another panel and the negative terminals of the two panels are connected together.
